Nestled in a wooded setting, Chamounix Mansion offers a welcoming front porch and two communal rooms restored to 1850 and furnished with antiques. A marble fireplace graces the 19th-Century parlor and a wonderful mural of the historic Water Works on the Schuylkill River can be found in the main hallway.
Chamounix amenities include a TV/VCR lounge, video library, Internet kiosk, vending machines, fully equipped kitchen with dining areas, a recreation room with piano and foosball. Washer/dryer and lockers are available.
Use our free bikes to explore Fairmount Park, stroll to Belmont Plateau to see one of the best views of Philadelphia's skyline, play tennis nearby, BBQ in our picnic area or just relax on Chamounix's pristine grounds.
Plenty of free parking is available with ample parking space for buses.
Sleeping accommodations are in comfortable, air-conditioned dormitory-style rooms. A limited number of smaller rooms are available for families and couples. The hostel provides linens, a blanket and pillow for each bed.
Since sleeping bags are prohibited, linens are included in costs. A limited number of toiletries are available in a vending machine.
The overnight fee is $22 per person, per night. Children (16 and under) pay $8. All childern must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.The maximum length of stay is seven nights. Extended stays must be approved by the manager.
Individual reservations must be secured with VISA, MasterCard or Money Order. Personal checks are not accepted.
Reservation cancellation requires notice by telephone or email at least 24 hours before the scheduled arrival date. If the required notice is not received and the individual does not check in on the scheduled arrival date, they will be charged for the first night and any remaining days for the reservation will be cancelled.
Chamounix can accommodate groups (10 or more persons) in either the Mansion or the Carriage House. There are a total of 80 beds available, between the two buildings. The overnight group fee is $22.00 per person. There is also the option for daytime use of the Mansion's facilities.
All group reservation requests are tentative until a deposit has been confirmed. For a secured reservation, 50% of the total fee is required at least 30 days before the arrival date. The group deposit must be made with VISA, MasterCard, Money Order or check. The balance of the fee is due upon arrival.
Reservations must be canceled in writing at least 30 days prior to scheduled arrival. Reservations canceled less than 30 days prior to the scheduled arrival receive no refund. To avoid penalty, any major changes to the group size or to the male-female count must be made at least 14 days prior to scheduled arrival. Minor changes (affecting less than 10% of group size) may be made up to 48 hours prior to arrival. Unless 48 hours notice is given of change in number of beds needed, groups will be held responsible for the total numbers of beds reserved.
